Salesengineering.com is a company that delivers products and services designed to
improve the productivity of pre-Sales Engineers.
Their flagship family of products, SE Applications, is targeted toward
Sales Engineers and their management. The product family includes a tool to help
Sales Engineers collaborate on their sales opportunities as well as a sophisticated
graphical dashboard that allows management to monitor the progress of their organization.
I led this multi-year, soup-to-nuts project, beginning with requirements definition and
running all the way through to general release.
Working with the president and CTO, I defined requirements for the entire family of
SE Applications products. I developed mock-ups, prototypes, and specifications describing
the planned functionality. I led a small team of part-time consultants to develop and test
the code, doing most of the development and testing myself. I wrote the online help and
accompanying product documentation.
Serving as Senior Product Manager for Salesengineering.com, I led the beta program for
SEplanit, the primary product in the SE Applications family. When the product was released,
I also served as primary technical support contact. I am currently working with
Salesengineering.com to develop plans for the next release of the product family.
SE Applications is a web-based application, using Microsoft Internet Information Server.
The user interface is written in ASP (VBScript), HTML, and JavaScript. A few
components are written in Java. Business logic is implemented in Visual Basic DLLs, with
accompanying VBunit unit tests. All data is stored in Microsoft SQL Server databases.
