As the web master for the Smith College Class of 1981, I designed and developed a
web site for the class's
20th and 25th reunions, and continue to maintain the web site to this date.
After I developed the web site for the Class of 1981, the Class of 1980 contracted with me to develop a
web site for their class as well. After developing the 1980 web site, I turned web
master responsbilities over to a member of that class.
The sites are highly interactive, and provide an excellent forum for alumnae to learn
about their classmates and make plans for their upcoming reunions.
The sites include the following features:
- User registration, including confirmation that prospective users are Smith College alumnae.
- Authentication, including email reminders for people who forget their username or password.
- A Class Book survey. Another volunteer and I use the survey data to create a
Class Book, which is printed and distributed at Reunion.
- Messages from class officers
- Contact lists for classmates and class officers
- Information about and links to the Smith College Alumnae Association web site
The web site was originally written in Active Server Pages with VBscript.
I am currently re-writting the site using ASP.NET.
User and class book survey data is stored in a Microsoft Access database.
